Partnership & Parenthood: Growing the Future of Aerospace Together
At Fly Compton Foundation, we’ve always believed that exposure creates opportunity, especially when it comes to aviation. But what sustains our growth and impact isn’t just access to aircraft or education. It’s the families who show up, the partners who stay committed, and the leaders who give back—not just for their careers, but for the next generation.
Earlier this month, during our Torqued Up Workshop, we were proud to welcome board member Philip June and his daughter Aria back to the hangar as supporters and participants. Philip, a leader at The Boeing Company, has been with Fly Compton since the beginning, helping shape and push the mission forward. This time, he stood beside his daughter as she explored her aviation curiosity.
A Foundation Built on Partnership
Philip has been part of the Fly Compton story since we first became a 501(c)(3). He’s seen the vision grow from a simple idea to a thriving nonprofit now serving over 100 students and partnering with more than 20 organizations.
“We started in a single hangar at Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum,” Philip recalled. “What’s been built since then—through COVID, through every challenge—is incredible. But this is still just the beginning.”
That kind of belief in our mission, especially from leaders inside the aerospace industry, is why our programs work. Our partners understand that if we want to meet the demand for over 400,000 new pilots in the next 20 years, we have to start early. We have to start here. And we have to do it together.
When Families Get Involved, Futures Change
This wasn’t just a family volunteering—it was a family leading by example.
Aria June took part in the very program her family has helped build. Her mother, Christa June, is a longtime board member and incoming Co-Executive Director of Fly Compton. And her father, Philip, stood proudly beside her as she worked through the day’s workshop stations.
“I came here because my mom signed me up,” Aria shared. “I sat in an airplane and went to ground camp. It was fun.”
Moments like these are why Fly Compton exists. When youth see their families—not just supporting from the sidelines, but actively shaping the programs—it sends a clear message: you belong here, and this space was built with you in mind.
“There are huge opportunities in aerospace for people from every background,” Philip said. “And Fly Compton is making sure our kids are prepared to step into them.”
This is more than exposure—it’s empowerment, made possible through generational leadership and deeply rooted commitment.
This Is What Growth Looks Like
Our growth didn’t happen overnight. It happened because of long-term commitment, family engagement, and partners who believe in the mission as much as we do.
Today, we serve and educate over 100 students through our aviation programs, offering hands-on experiences, flight training, ground school, and STEM-focused workshops. From day one, we’ve worked to be more than a flight school. We are a launchpad for careers, for leadership, and for a more inclusive future in aerospace.
