Honoring Leadership: Alaska Airlines Recognizes Ronnel Norman with Community CARES Award

The Fly Compton Foundation is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $5,000 grant through Alaska Airlines’ Community CARES Award, in recognition of the outstanding contributions of our own Ronnel Norman.

This award honors Ronnel’s dedication to aviation and community service and supports our mission to provide accessible aviation education to underserved youth in Compton and surrounding communities.

Ronnel Norman, a First Officer at Alaska Airlines and CEO of the Fly Compton Aero Club, has been a driving force in our organization. His journey from a young aviation enthusiast in Compton to a commercial airline pilot serves as an inspiration to many. Through his leadership, Fly Compton has expanded its programs, offering flight training, ground school, and mentorship to over 100 students annually.

The Community CARES Award from Alaska Airlines is a testament to Ronnel’s impact both in the cockpit and in the community. The $5,000 grant will directly support our educational programming, helping fund scholarships, purchase training materials, and maintain our aircraft fleet.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Alaska Airlines for their commitment to community engagement and for recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in aviation. Their support enables organizations like ours to continue breaking barriers and opening doors for the next generation of aviators.
